Tonight' game was once again a "snap shot" of what is our greatest obstacle..."US"! It is impossible for us to compete with anyone if we don't fix these problems...Period!! I can't emphasize enough the importance of playing "within yourself," but we MUST do this with energy...
Tonight I sat outside the gym for almost a half hour before the game watching to see how you would "warm-up"...Needless to say, you "went through the motions" and more concerning to me was that everyone was o.k. with it...
I have been trying to get you guys to see that you can't look around and wait for "someone else" to take charge....Each one of you have to come ready to do what you need to do, not come ready to just "go through the motions"....Bottom line is, if you show up expecting to lose, that is exactly what you will do...
We continue to not see the importance of executing the little things...(defensively, I am constantly having to tell players to "stay home" because you lack the discipline on your own...) We still don't understand the importance of "blocking out" rather than trying to "jump" with players that we have no chance of out jumping...These are examples of not playing "smart"...Offensively, we continue to turn the ball over every time we get pressured because we don't know what to do or we "just quit" on the play....We continue to make pathetic passes, pathetic decisions and then jog back when we turn the ball over...I have never accepted this kind of play and I won't start now...
"Lackluster play" is a cancer....It spreads throughout a team and will not go away by itself...This is unacceptable! I told everyone during conditioning, there is NO excuse for being lazy...I can't use a player that doesn't care about getting better...I think some of you need to really search inside and decide how bad you want to get better....If you think it' not that important to you, I am sure there will be opportunities for you in the Community Center league...
I should not have to keep talking about the same things over and over...Let' do something about it...(so I don't have to...)
